Our Story
After spending several years teaching in traditional schools, I’d started feeling disheartened.
During this time, I observed many of the disheartening elements that I had come to expect in a traditional classroom: disengaged students, a “one-size-fits-all” curriculum, constant high-stakes testing, and an immense amount of wasted time and lost potential.
I have witnessed many learners struggling with depression and anxiety, and don't have the skills to overcome failure, mistakes and struggle.
No joy and fulfillment in the learning process.
All children deserve better.
Through our own personal development journey, we realized that traditional schools that we attended when we were young, created some of the problems we faced as adults, and we didn't want our kids to have the same issues in their lives going forward. We stumbled onto Acton Academy through a Podcast, instantly applied to open a school of our own, as none existed in South Africa.
This model honored a child’s unique talents, passions and curiosity; that didn’t judge but empowered and strengthened, honing thinking and building character. Where students are engaged in meaningful projects with real-world implications.
There is a better way.
Our goal is to offer this model of education for like minded parents who wants their children to find their calling that would change the world.

The term “rigor” in education has been a buzzword for at least a decade. It describes the result of work that challenges students' thinking in new and interesting ways. Promoting rigor in the classroom requires expectations and experiences that are academically, intellectually, and personally challenging.
